Apart from this...
.
Box Rovers have had a successful pre season so far under new manager Stuart Beeho and Box have more sponsors on board to help the club achieve success on and off the pitch this season.
The Queens Head pub has become the home for the club and the Manor Garage have provided polo shirts for the players. Also Carl Todd Clinic and the Parish Council have helped the club purchase new equipment.
An entertaining presentation night at the Queens Head in Box, saw there star player Luke McFarlane win players player of the season, and Adam Taylor picking up Managers player and the Golden Boot. Also special awards went out to Jamie Harrison, Liam Fullam, Tom Smith and Luke Wolf. A great night all round, saw the team bond well together for the up and coming season.
The night also saw Adam Taylor taking a few knocks for the team.
New summer signings Justin Flowers, Jamie Moss, Jamie Bowler and Michael Blunsdon were in impressive form in the 4-1 defeat to White Hart Coomb, in the first pre-season friendly. Jason Walsh scored Box’s only goal. You could tell that this was Box’s first game, and it seemed a few players forgot how to play football over the summer. The second game saw Box win 2-0 against the Pheasant FC. Tom Smith picked up the first with a 2-yard screamer. Then Liam Fullam scored the second with a stunning free kick just outside the box. This also saw Jamie Harrison back with a great display.
Box Rovers traveled to Holt, where rovers lost 3-0. 2 well finished goals from Holt saw them take an early lead. Box took their time to settle into the game, which at times didn’t always seem a friendly. Box should of scored before halftime, but Stuart Beeho missed an easy header, so Stuart made a great managerial decision and brought him self off. But in the second half Box took control and played some great football, they thought they were back in the game, but Tom smiths well worked goal was ruled off side. After many chances not being taken and the woodwork keeping box out, Holt were given a penalty which just creped in past Luke McFarlane.
There were many chances for both teams in the later stages as they both kept attacking. It was a good game all round be fore the start of the season. Box Rovers are looking forward to an exciting season, with a new manager and new players adding to a good club, we are aiming for Box Rovers to be challenging for trophies, and be more consistent than previous season, of getting 11 players on the pitch, and maybe a few subs!! Stop being known has a Jekyll and Hyde team. Finally putting Box Rovers back to where they should be battling with the top 4 for the title. |
